Wednesday, May 20, 2020 “One Lovely Day” Citizen Cope

You may not have heard of Citizen Cope, born Clarence Greenwood, but you have probably heard his music recorded by the likes of Sheryl Crow, Eric Clapton, Santana and many others as well as being included in movies, and TV shows.

The chorus of this song, “One Lovely Day” possibly expresses what we all might be thinking at this moment, where we could, to paraphrase, walk to the river, stand with our families and move to the sound of our favorite bands.

Citizen Cope will be celebrating his birthday today (May 20) with a livestream here: https://bit.ly/3bBn4y5 . Check him out if you like.

This could be the perfect song to kick back with on your porch, fire escape, beach, park bench, deck or wherever with some lemonade (beer, wine, tequila) and just hum along. Lyrics below, as always, if you had a notion to sing instead.

Stay well and safe...and soon it will be that one lovely day.

She won't give in,
She won't crack a smile or a grin.
She won't give in,
But she sure is different.
It's written in red
All in her eyes,
There's no disguise.
Well, she lost so much in Tivoli.
Together we could go,
To where there ain't no more pain,
Together we could fly,
To where there's time for you and I.
Together we could walk
To the river, stand with the families,
Move to the sound of the band of Atlantis,
One lovely day,
One lovely day,
One lovely day,
One lovely day.
She won't let on,
The feelings she got ain't so strong,
She won't let on,
But I'm never gonna leave her alone.
It's written in red
All in her eyes,
There's no disguise.
Well she lost so much in Tivoli.
Together we could go,
To where there ain't no more pain,
Together we could fly,
To where there's time for you and I.
Together we could walk
To the river, stand with the families,
Move to the sound of the band of Atlantis,
One lovely day,
One lovely day,
One lovely day,
One lovely day.x2
One lovely day,
One lovely day.
