Wednesday April 22, 2020 “Colors” Black Pumas

Jumping into another century today for a current, soulful musical reference with the Black Pumas and a cut from their self-titled, debut album/CD.

This band, actually a duo in the studio, fronted by soul singer/songwriter Eric Burton (interesting coincidence with British soul singer Eric Burdon of 60’s band The Animals) and guitarist/producer Adrian Quesada covers a range of styles with most heavily influenced by Burton’s gospel upbringing.

The Black Pumas are signed to the ATO record label which was started by Dave Matthews (yes that Dave Matthews) and includes such diverse artists as David Gray, My Morning Jacket, Alabama Shakes and Primus among many others on their label roster.

Lyrics are below but I suspect you might just use them to follow along as the singing may be a bit challenging but I encourage you to go for it even if only in private.
