Monday November 2, 2020 "What is Life" George Harrison (Copy)
Beatle George Harrison had a lifelong spirituality, studied with the Maharishi in India, wrote "My Sweet Lord" and named his only son Dhani after a Hindu messenger who was sent to preach to the Brahmins, so I thought who better to begin a week of rock songs that will help us find the meaning of life.
You may remember, or not, but earlier on song of the day it was suggested that taking advice from rock musicians may not be the wisest source for guidance so please put that theory aside (at least for this week) and sign up for "RocK & Roll Life Lessons 101"...a survey course in in six days.
There will be no credit for this course, there are no fees and it will be strictly virtual.
Although George did not write this as a spiritual song, he composed "what is life without your love" for his first wife Pattie, who then left him for Eric Clapton who is singing back-up and playing guitar on "What is Life". Given those circumstances, Harrison and Clapton remained lifelong friends, isn't that ironic.
So as we begin the week with George Harrison's question, "what is life" we hope by week's end to have arrived at the conclusion, but maybe not.
Stay safe and well...yeah, the video, I don't get it either.
