Sunday April 19, 2020 “All You Zombies” The Hooters.
Another churchless Sunday and..…
*Whoa, hold on, wait a minute, stop, are you kidding me, starting off on a Sunday with a song about Zombies sung by The Hooters…no way, uh uh, that’s just wrong!*
OK we got that out of the way, now spend four minutes with a band that took their name from the nickname for the musical instrument known as the ‘melodica’ not where you went when you first saw Hooters, and they put together this interesting take on biblical themes long before anyone even dreamed of the walking dead or zombies.
One of the founders of the band, Rob Hyman would go on to write and produce several hits outside of his band including the Cyndi Lauper mega-tune ‘Time After Time’ which was reportedly a throw away they put together because they had some extra studio time during a recording session. While Eric Bazilian, the other founder of the band would write and produce Joan Osborne’s 'One of Us’ (what if God were one of us, that is) among other tunes.
So give these pseudo-spiritual lyrics a check while you enjoy this song, ironically banned on several Christian music stations when it came out, but also go with its spirit, and enjoy an another (Americanized) taste of reggae.
I make no judgment on the video but aren’t you secretly hoping that the fashions of the 80’s will return soon.
Be safe and well… and don’t be ‘sittin in the dark’ soon we won’t have to hide anymore!
