Friday October 9, 2020 “Because” Beatles

Yes they had some pretty great harmonies in addition to everything else that they did.

John Lennon said that he got the idea for this song while listening to Yoko Ono playing “Moonlight Sonata” on the piano and he asked her to play the chord structure of that tune in reverse and that was the birth of “Because” with its remarkable three part harmonies.

Interestingly Lennon said he never liked the arrangement of the song on the Abbey Road album/CD, which was the number fourteen on Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time, the original 2003  list, and number five in the 2020 version of the list.

The Beatles have six Diamond Albums, each with sales of ten million or more copies and have the most number one albums of any other group, more than Elvis and the Rolling Stones together.

The Lennon & McCartney songwriting team is responsible for nearly two hundred original songs in addition to each member's individual compositions, and neither one of them could actually read music.

For all of us  Beatle fans I saw a sad fact that at this moment John Lennon has been gone longer than he was here.

Stay safe and well...and don’t you just love how few lyrics there are to this song.

Because the world is round it turns me on

Because the world is round, ah

Because the wind is high it blows my mind

Because the wind is high, ah

Love is old, love is new

Love is all, love is you

Because the sky is blue, it makes me cry

Because the sky is blue, ah

Ah, ah, ah, ah
