Tuesday, August 18, 2020 Woodstock Day Three (and one half)

Yes it was billed as ``three days of music and art” but the concert ran a bit long so we will visit that final day. And it would be inappropriate not to include one of the premiere performers at this event who performed on day four, the remarkable Jimi Hendrix and his iconic version of the Star Spangled Banner.

There were those who might have found it inappropriate but this was Hendrix, a former US Army paratrooper, feeling all the emotion that this song brings and interpreting it in his own eclectic, soulful way.

This was not the first time he played the National Anthem, there are in fact 50 recorded versions of Hendrix playing the Star Spangled Banner, many before Woodstock.

Here’s something to think about: Woodstock event producer Michael Lang wanted to end the concert with Roy Rogers singing “Happy Trails” but Roy declined and Jimi Hendrix stepped in to close.

Stay safe and well...and am pretty sure that you know the words if you even wanted to try and sing along with this version.Yes it was billed as ``three days of music and art” but the concert ran a bit long so we will visit that final day.
