Wednesday August 19, 2020 “Come and Get Your Love” Redbone
Another Native American piece of music to add to last Friday’s “Running Bear” though this one is not quite so frivolous and is actually a cool song, by an interesting group, in this writer’s estimation.
Redbone was formed by brothers Pat and Lolly Vasquez members of the Yaqui Shoshone tribe and included Tony Bellamy also from the Shoshone tribe and Peter DePoe a Cheyenne Chippewa tribe member.
“Come and Get Your Love” would become a top ten, million selling record for Redbone, a Cajun term that loosely translated means a mixed race person. If you were thinking you might have a song in you that you need to write, using this as an example you really don’t need a lot of lyrics as “Come and Get Your Love” is repeated twenty-nine times, so you won't forget the song’s title.
"Come and Get Your Love" gets many TV and commercial palys and is included in the movie “Guardians of the Galaxy” and Chris Pratt dances along with the song as does Christopher Walken (yes that Christopher Walken) in the video of today's song included here. You decide who is the better dancer.
