Tuesday August 11, 2020 “There She Goes” The La’s

Still in Liverpool with a sweet, romantic, poppy tune about...heroin, maybe.

Liverpool’s The La’s debut and only recorded album/CD was resoundingly decried by reclusive La’s founder Lee Mavers who once said it sounds like “Nazi tanks rolling through Egypt’.  After that initial successful recording and some strange live performances Mavers disappeared, not just from the music business but literally vanished.

Depending on which stories you believe, in that time he may or may not have entered a monastery, become a heroin addict or secretly written his friend Paul Weller's comeback hit Changing Man.

I know that you’re wondering about the band name, "The La's" which according to Mike Badger one of the original band members came to him in a dream, the perfect source for any band name.

So enjoy this fun 1989 tune from the JD Salinger of rock music because there haven’t been and are not likely to be any more of them coming anytime soon.  Although you should know that Mavers is actually leading a quiet non-musical life raising a couple of sons in a Liverpool suburb.

Stick around for the very foolish interview following the song, if you can understand it.

Stay safe and well...and I promise this tune will stick in your head for the rest of the day, in a good way, and you will have all the lyrics.

there she goes

there she goes again

racing thru' my brain

 and i just can't contain

this feelin' that remains

 there she blows

there she blows again

pulsing thru' my vein

 and i just can't contain

this feelin' that remains

there she goes, there she goes again

she calls my name, pulls my train

no-one else could heal my pain

 and i just can't contain

this feelin' that remains

 there she goes

there she goes again

chasing down my lane

 and i just can't contain

this feelin' that remains
