Sunday October 24, 2021 “She’s a Rainbow” Rolling Stones
We captured the individual colors of the rainbow this week so here’s a recap compliments of the Rolling Stones.
The Rolling Stones early image was created by their manager Andrew Loog Oldham to be the antithesis of the Beatles and as a result the public was left with the sense that these two bands were constantly battling each other. However the Stones 1963 hit “I Wanna Be Your Man” was written and given to the band by their friends John Lennon and Paul McCartney at the request of the Stones’ manager Andrew Loog Oldham.
Director Martin Scorcese is a big Rolling Stones fan having included several of their songs in his movies and he has used their song “Gimme Shelter” in four of his films. Not the Stones only association with the movies, one of the cameramen on their 1970 documentary, Gimme Shelter, was none other than soon to be legendary film director George Lucas.
"She's a Rainbow" not one of their biggest hits, it only reached number 25 on the Billboard charts, was featured on their 1967 album, Their Satanic Majesties Request. It has been called "the prettiest and most uncharacteristic song" that Mick Jagger and Keith Richards wrote for the Stones.
Stay safe and well...and maybe look at the next rainbow in your life with your new rock & roll eyes and see if you can now pick out each individual color.
