Thursday April 15, 2021 “Waiting on a War” Foo Fighters

Maybe you are asking yourself what exactly is a Foo Fighter.  Stay tuned for an answer.

The band, Foo Fighters was formed by the drummer in Nirvana, Dave Grohl who, while he was in high school, was a guitarist and singer in a variety of Washington DC punk bands.   He was able to convince his mother that he should drop out of high school and pursue his passion for music.

He headed to Seattle and there he joined Nirvana in 1990 and whenever that band was not touring or recording he was writing songs that he planned to ultimately record himself.  After Kurt Cobain’s death Grohl took a break, took a breath and then recorded the backlog of those songs and became a foo fighter.

Actually on the first Foo Fighters album/CD, Grohl not only wrote all of the songs, but played all the instruments and did all of the singing so the band should really have been Foo Fighter.

The Foo Fighters have won twelve Grammy Awards, including Best Rock Album four times. The band has also won an American Music Award, four Brit Awards, and two MTV Video Music Awards, have recorded ten albums/CDs and sold over twenty million albums/CDs in the U.S

Grohl, along with the members of Nirvana is in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and has also directed a very worthwhile documentary about the legendary Los Angeles recording studio Sound City where Nirvana recorded their groundbreaking album/CD Nevermind.

The film appeared early in 2013 to positive reviews and it was accompanied by a soundtrack called Sound City: Reel to Real, which featured Grohl-directed jams with a variety of Sound City veterans, plus Paul McCartney.

Oh yeah, what is a foo fighter?  The term "foo fighter" was used by Allied aircraft pilots during World War II to describe various UFOs or mysterious aerial phenomena seen in the skies over both the European and Pacific theaters of operations.  There’s a Star Wars connection also but I’m sticking with the UFO one.

Stay safe and well...and let’s skip the wars, there has to be more to this than that.

I've been waiting on a war since I was young

Since I was a little boy with a toy gun

Never really wanted to be number one

Just wanted to love everyone

Is there more to this than that?

Is there more to this than that?

Is there more to this than that?

Is there more to this

More to this, more to this than

Just waiting on a war?

Just waiting on a war?

Every day waiting for the sky to fall

Big crash on a world that's so small

Just a boy with nowhere left to go

Fell in love with a voice on the radio

Is there more to this than that?

Is there more to this than that?

Is there more to this than that?

Is there more to this

More to this, more to this than

Just waiting on a war?

Just waiting on a war?

Just waiting on a war for this and that

There's got to be more to this than that

Just waiting on a war for this and that

There's got to be more to this than that

I've been waiting on a war since I was young

Since I was a little boy with a toy gun

 Is there more to this

More to this, more to this than

Just waiting on a war?

Just waiting on a war?

Just waiting on a war for this and that

There's got to be more to this than that

Just waiting on a war for this and that

There's got to be more to this than that

Just waiting on a war for this and that

There's got to be more to this than that

Just waiting on a war for this and that

There's got to be more to this than that

 Because I need more

Yeah, I need more

Just waiting on a war

Just waiting on a war

Yeah, I need more

(For this and that)

(There's got to be more to this than that)

(Just waiting on a war)

Yeah, I need more

(For this and that)

(There's got to be more to this than that)

(Just waiting on a war)
