Saturday July 10, 2021 “Shut Up and Dance” Walk the Moon

Not a one hit band of astronauts as the name might suggest but rather a group of musicians from LA...which may actually be another planet.

According to Walk the Moon singer and co-songwriter Nicholas Petricca 'Shut Up and Dance' is based on a true story of hanging out at a club party called Funky Soul Saturday with his friends when this girl came up to him and told him to shut up and dance with her.

The song has a retro feel and borrows heavily from influences like the Cars with the synth solo and also U2 with the guitar intro that bears a striking resemblance to “Where the Streets Have No Name”.  This song spent 27 weeks atop Billboard's Hot Rock Songs, breaking that chart's longevity record.

Stay safe and well...and like the song suggests sometimes you just have to be in the moment and let go...and even dance.
