Sunday July 11, 2021 “Too Late to Turn Back Now” Cornelius Brothers & Sister Rose

Today’s song was a top ten hit for the Cornelius Brothers, Carter and Eddie who wrote this tune as well as their previous hit “Treat Her Like a Lady” while sister Rose Cornelius provided backing vocals and also wrote all of the backing vocals.

Yeah they were actually related.

Eddie Cornelius would go on to become a born-again Christian and later an ordained minister while his brother Carter Cornelius joined a Black Hebrew sect in Miami and adopted the name Prince Gideon Israel. Sister Rose continued in the music business pursuing a solo career and doing studio work.

The group actually fared better with general audiences than R&B and soul fans, who found their arrangements, harmonies, and style lacking grit and intensity, still their two hits are among the most requested songs of the early '70s that air on oldies stations.
