Friday June 25, 2021 “I’m Coming Out” Diana Ross
Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards of the 70s band Chic wrote and produced “I'm Coming Out”. Rodgers got the idea for "I'm Coming Out" when he went to a gay club in New York City and while he was standing at the urinal, he saw three men who looked like Diana Ross.
And of course Nile Rodgers thought who better to sing this song than...the real Diana Ross.
Diana Ross performed this song for President Bill Clinton and various other world leaders at the opening ceremony for the 1994 World Cup at Soldier Field in Chicago. She was set up with a short penalty kick which was supposed to split open the goal for her to run through, but she missed the kick.
Ms. Ross has been nominated for twelve Grammys, three Golden Globes, an Academy Award, a Tony and is in the Guinness Book of Records as Most Successful Female Singer of All Time. When she was with the Supremes they charted sixty-six singles and thirty three albums/CDs. As a solo artist Diana Ross has sold more than 100 million albums/CDs.
