Tuesday July 7, 2020 “Ruby Tuesday” Rolling Stones
“Would you let your daughter marry a Rolling Stone?” was one of the very early promotions for the ‘bad boys’ of English rock.
This ballad purportedly about a girl friend of Keith Richards who was not named Ruby but did dump him on a Tuesday, was written by Richards and Brian Jones who also played the very identifiable mood setting recorder on the recorded version of the song. It would be their fourth international number one record.
The highest earning rock band in history, the Rolling Stones have sold 240 million records, have twelve international number one records, four Grammys and are members of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Their famous tongue logo was inspired by Indian Hindu goddess Kali the destroyer of evil forces.
Mick Jagger has said of their music “It’s a noise we make. That's all. You would be kind to call it music.”
Wondering about the restaurant? Nothing to do with the Rolling Stones and song titles are not trademarks and, in fact, songs often have the same name, so there was no need to ask for permission.
Stay safe and well...and “lose your dreams and you will lose your mind.”
