Tuesday July 27, 2021 “Last Train Home” John Mayer

I haven’t liked John Mayer for quite a while, but his new song “Last Train Home”, which reminds me of an older song that I can’t quite identify, really entertains me.

John Mayer, from Fairfield CT, has perhaps been as well publicized for his high profile dating partners as he has for his remarkable guitar skills. He has partnered musically with legends of several genres, making guest appearances on albums by Buddy Guy, Eric Clapton, and B.B. King while touring with jazz icon Herbie Hancock as well as touring with Dead & Company filling in the musical spots that Jerry Garcia would have played in the Grateful Dead.

He has also won a Grammy for his solo tune “Your Body Is a Wonderland”, Grammy has never been accused of good taste.

Mayer stays pretty active off stage and when he is out of the recording studio with a regular article that had been featured in Esquire and he currently has an Instagram Live show. The show, entitled Current Mood, debuted on his IGTV account on Sunday evening on September 30, 2018. Episodes have continued to air on a weekly basis and guests have included Charlie Puth, Cazzie David, and musician Thundercat.

Stay safe and well...and don’t John Mayer’s songs usually remind you of something you have heard before but you just can’t pinpoint...and yes that is country star Maren Morris doing background vocals.

If you wanna roll me, then you gotta roll me all night long

And if you wanna use me, then you gotta use me 'til I'm gone

I'm not a fallen angel, I just fell behind

I'm out of luck and I'm out of time

If you don't wanna love me, let me go

I'm runnin' for the last train

I'm runnin' for the last train home

If you wanna know me, then you gotta know me through and through

And if you're gonna hurt me, then you gotta hold me next to you

No matter how you work it, things go wrong

I put my heart where it don't belong

So if you're comin with me, let me know

Maybe you're the last train

Maybe you're the last train home

I'm on the last train runnin'

I'm on the last train runnin'

And I surrender

And I surrender

I'm on the last train runnin'

I'm on the last train runnin'

And I surrender

And I surrender

I'm on the last train runnin'

I'm on the last train runnin'

And I surrender

And I surrender

I'm on the last train runnin'

I'm on the last train runnin'

And I surrender

I surrender (oh yeah)
