Friday July 23, 2021 “Get Ready (Cos Here I Come)", "Ain't Too Proud To Beg" and "My Girl"” Hall & Oates, David Ruffin, Eddie Kendricks
From their first hit in 1974 through their heyday in the '80s, Daryl Hall and John Oates' smooth, catchy take on Philly soul brought them enormous commercial success -- including six number one singles and six platinum albums. And John and Darryl always referenced those soulful artists that came before them like Eddie Kendricks and David Ruffin who shared the lead on most of the Temptations hits.
Although they recorded most of their early songs in the Philadelphia studios of producers Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff, Hall & Oates were the kings of ‘blue eyed soul’ and constantly reflected the Motown sound that heavily influenced their music.
David Ruffin can be heard on such Temptation’s classics like “My Girl”, “Since I Lost My Baby” and “I Wish It Would Rain” while Eddie Kendricks provided the lead vocals on “Aint too Proud to Beg” and “Just My Imagination”.
Stay safe and well...and the Hall & Oates band stayed on stage to back up Mick Jagger and Tina Turner who followed them.
