Thursday July 22, 2021 “Heroes” David Bowie
One of the great stars of the rock & roll era, David Bowie evaded easy categories throughout his career, operating as the artiest of rockers within the mainstream. In the 1960s, he attempted to break into the Top 40, playing British blues, mod rock & roll, and ornate pop before finally hitting paydirt as a singer/songwriter with "Space Oddity"
David Jones began performing music when he was 13 years old, learning the saxophone while he was at Bromley Technical High School; where a pivotal event happened, when his left pupil became permanently dilated in a schoolyard fight, leaving him with different colored eyes.
David Bowie recorded 27 studio albums, 21 live albums, 46 compilation albums, 10 extended plays (EPs), 128 singles, 4 soundtracks and 12 box sets. Bowie also released 28 video albums and 72 music videos. He has sold over 140 million albums/CDs.
Stay safe and well...and enjoy this Live Aid performance by David Jones who changed his name due to the fame of a previous David Jones...from the Monkees.
