Thursday June 25, 2020 “Better Than That” John Butler Trio
These guys are huge in Australia.
Maybe not the best introduction to draw you into a band that you might not be familiar with and you’re likely thinking wait the only other successful Australian band of recent memory is The Little River Band and that was in 1979*.
The John Butler Trio has eleven albums/CDs including “Live at Red Rocks” here in the US, they have released 14 singles and they own four (Australian) Songs of the Year awards of which “Better Than That” is included.
Butler attributes his success to the weather. According to him the band was playing two gigs at the East Coast Blues & Roots Festival in Byron Bay, apparently the festival is a big deal. The first of their shows only drew about 50 people to their tent, the second started with the same size crowd and then according to Butler "it absolutely pissed with rain and 3,000 people ran into our tent. And the show just went berserk.”
Into every life some rain must fall and I suspect in this instance John Butler is quite grateful for the downpour.
Stay safe and well ...life’s not what’s better than…
