Friday November 6, 2020 “It’s My Life” The Animals
What is life, well it’s my life and I’ll do what I want.
The Animals, kind of an odd choice for a band name when you give it just a bit of thought. Are we talking about animals from the zoo, the forest, the jungle or simply ‘these guys are just animals’.
The band started out as a jazz group with lead singer Eric Burdon as their trombone player. Legend has it that Burdon became the singer in the band because he was such a lousy trombone player. It would of course prove to be a very successful change with Burdon providing the distinctive sound that made The Animals the success that they became.
The Animals have recorded twenty-five singles, eighteen albums/CDs and are members of the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame but what help does this song provide us in our quest for the meaning of life. Although a bit aggressive, maybe “It's my life and I'll do what I want, it's my mind and I'll think what I want, show me I'm wrong...”
There are a few really interesting rock & roll names that I am considering for my own future name change and guitarist Hilton Valentine (real name) of The Animals is one of them.
Stay safe and well...and yes, it is your life.
