Sunday August 7, 2022 “Can’t Do a Thing (To Stop Me) Chris Isaak
If it was possible to have a child born out of music, Chris Isaak would definitely have been Roy Orbison’s son when he channels the melancholy of Orbison’s sweeping falsettos.
Destined for stardom early in life, Isaak was class president for three years, culminating with his election as student body president in his senior year, along with being the 1974 graduating class valedictorian and head of the all-male cheer squad.
In 1987 Isaak released the self-titled album Chris Isaak, which managed to scrape into the Top 200 album charts. After its release, the singer began an acting career with a bit part in Jonathan Demme's 1988 film Married to the Mob; he would later have parts in Wild at Heart, The Silence of the Lambs, and A Dirty Shame, as well as starring in his own situation comedy series for the Showtime cable network.
Isaak's music is regularly featured in David Lynch films. “Gone Ridin” and "Livin' for Your Lover" were both featured in Lynch's 1986 cult film, Blue Velvet and his breakthrough came after "Wicked Game" was featured in Lynch's 1990 movie, Wild At Heart. Isaak also played Special Agent Chester Desmond in Lynch's 1992 film, Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me.
Once an amatuer boxer, Chris Isaak has had his nose broken seven times, and his very retro look has him often compared to Elvis Presley, Ricky Nelson, and Duane Eddy.Stay safe and well...and enjoy this lovely, moody piece of music.
