“(If You’re Wondering If I Want You To) I Want You To” Weezer
Weezer is just such a darned fun band with their poppy originals like today’s song and so many great covers that it’s hard not to feel lighter and happier as you listen to them.
Weezer had a big hit with the song “Buddy Holly” and although you could easily suggest the musical influence from Buddy Holly, the song was not originally intended as a tribute to the legendary singer. Insteasd it was originally titled “Ginger Rogers” and the lyrics at that moment were: "You look just like Ginger Rogers / Oh oh / I move just like Fred Astaire".
Weezer took a four year hiatus after the release of their 1996 album, Pinkerton. During their hiatus, they played small shows featuring all Nirvana and Oasis covers under the band name, Goat Punishment.
Their first, third and sixth albums are all called Weezer but they are known as The Blue Album, The Green Album and The Red Album, respectively.
Wondering about the video, here’s Cuomo’s explanation: "We're all in Weezerville, doing our daily routines, then one day, this beautiful young woman comes out of nowhere, enters Weezerville, heads start turning…because we're all flustered when we see this girl, we lose our focus, our concentration. Next thing you know, accidents start happening."
Stay safe and well…and it is an amusing video with that great Corvette.
