Sunday September 25, 2022 “Wish I Knew You” The Revivalists
The Revivalists began when Zack Feinberg, a guitarist from New York City met vocalist David Shaw in New Orleans, struck up a conversation and began playing music together. The two put together a band and began regular appearances at the legendary New Orleans venue Tipitina’s.
They would release their first albums independently with most of the songs written and produced by the band. Their first album Vital Signs in 2010 was noted by the New Orleans Times Picayune which said the music had "irresistible hooks, melodies and arrangements. The Revivalists second album Men Amongst Mountains received more than 2 million streams on Spotify, and ended up in the Top 5 of the Billboard Heatseekers chart.
The Revivalists, a hard working touring band, would support this second album with appearances at New York City's Central Park SummerStage, Austin City Limits, and the New Orleans Jazz Fest where they opened for the Dave Matthews Band but it would be the release of today’s song from their fourth album, Take Good Care, that would provide their breakthrough.
"Wish I Knew You" went to number one on Billboard's Adult Alternative and Alternative radio charts, and remained on the Billboard Hot 100 for nine weeks. The song was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), and Forbes magazine called it, "one of the best and catchiest radio singles of the year".
Stay safe and well…and enjoy this catchy, retro sounding tune.
