Saturday November 13, 2021 “Whole Lotta Trouble” Cracker

Cracker’s contribution to our Empire Records movie soundtrack is “Whole Lotta Trouble” and if you’re in the Empire Records store it will likely be found in the ‘alternative’ section.  Founded by former Camper Van Beethoven frontman David Lowery, Cracker released their self-titled debut in 1992 and it was filled with guitar-driven rock songs and gravelly vocals, and "Teen Angst (What the World Needs Now)" from that album became a number one modern rock single.

During Cracker's heyday in the 1990s, the Virginia-based band molded elements of alternative pop/rock into several irreverent, buzzworthy anthems and the album established Cracker's presence as a popular musical force.

Band founder, lead singer/songwriter David Lowery is a trained mathematician who has worked as a "quant" (a derivatives trader and financial analyst) and has started a number of music-related businesses, including a studio, a record company and a publishing company.  Lowery earned an Ed.D. from the University of Georgia in 2018.

Stay safe and well...and we’ll say goodbye to Empire Records with this tune but I will recommend the movie to anyone that has enjoyed all the vinyl music from its soundtrack this week.

There's no happy ever after

Here we're just trying to survive

Whole lotta trouble baby.

Whole lotta trouble baby.

Whole lotta trouble, in this life

Work and you could have your money

But this don't guarantee you're right

Whole lotta trouble baby.

Whole lotta trouble baby.

Whole lotta trouble, in this life.

In the morning the sun comes up.

In the evening the sun goes down.

Did you that I could look alive

When everything was dying

In this cold dark town.

Some folks just think you're starting over.

They take a lifetime to survive.

Whole lotta trouble baby.

Whole lotta trouble baby.

Whole lotta trouble, in this life.
