Friday November 5, 2021 “Simply the Best” Tina Turner

Covering the 2021 inductees into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame just seems so appropriate to list Tina Turner’s name preceded by “Simply the Best”.  Do we really need to say more?

Born Annie Mae Bullock near Brownsville, Tennessee, she began singing as a teen and joined Ike Turner's touring show as an 18-year-old backup vocalist. Just two years later, Tina was the star of the show, the attention-grabbing focal point for an incredibly smooth-running soul revue headed by Ike and his Kings of Rhythm.

Tina has also had a couple of notable movie roles as the Acid Queen in The Who’s Tommy and also in Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome which also included Tina’s top ten song “We Don’t Need Another Hero”.

Tina will turn 82 on November 26 and the most recent photo I saw of her she was looking pretty good and I won’t even add the qualifier ‘for 82’.  She is now a Swiss citizen, and with her Tony award winning broadway biographical musical and her many hits she continues to remain in the public eye. This is Tina's second time in the R&R Hall of Fame.

Stay safe and well...and apparently, based on this 'official' video, this song is about a horse.

I call you when I need you,

my heart's on fire

You come to me, come to me wild and wild

When you come to me

Give me everything I need

Give me a lifetime of promises and a world of dreams

Speak a language of love like

you know what it means

And it can't be wrong

Take my heart and make it strong baby

You're simply the best, better than all the rest

Better than anyone, anyone I've ever met

I'm stuck on your heart,

and hang on every word you say

Tear us apart,

Baby I would rather be dead

In your heart I see the star

of every night and every day

In your eyes I get lost, I get washed away

Just as long as I'm here in your arms

I could be in no better place

You're simply the best, better than all the rest

Better than anyone, anyone I've ever met

I'm stuck on your heart,

and hang on every word you say

Tear us apart, no, no,

Baby I would rather be dead

Each time you leave me I start losing control

You're walking away with my heart and my soul

I can feel you even when I'm alone

Oh baby, don't let go

You're the best, better than all the rest

Better than anyone, anyone I've ever met

I'm stuck on your heart,

and hang on every word you say

Tear us apart, no, no,

Baby I would rather be dead

Oh ! You're the best !!!
