Saturday October 30, 2021 “Dead Man’s Party” Oingo Boingo
Well tomorrow the mini goblins and ghouls will be going door to door looking for some tasty treats but maybe also prepared for a few gruesome tricks.
If you happen to be listening to the radio on Halloween there are a handful of related songs that are always played but song of the dayers are not followers of the usual, so we will go with a our own scary tune, a song you are not likely to hear, from a group that should have had a longer musical life, Oingo Boingo.
This group was founded by Danny Elfman as the Mystic Knights of the Oingo Boingo when he wrote the music for a wacked out movie Forbidden Zone that his brother Richard had directed. While waiting for the movie to come out the 'band' began playing clubs in Los Angeles and eventually attracted the attention of A&M records.
Today's tune would be Oingo Boingo's biggest and a lack of additional hits and Danny Elfman's friendship with director Tim Burton would take him into the movie score world and out of the zany rock & roll world. Elfman wrote the scores for Batman, Edward Scissorhands, Nightmare Before Christmas,Pee Wee's Big Adventure, Sleepy Hollow and...well you get the picture he has been pretty busy.
And is Danny Elfman, singer/songwriter and guitarist for Oingo Boingo Tim Curry’s (Rocky Horror Picture Show) twin brother?
Stay safe and well...and maybe check out a dead man’s party for Halloween, it looks like it could be fun.
