Thursday January 20, 2022 “Every Little Kiss” Bruce Hornsby
Here's "Every Little Kiss" from Bruce Hornsby an exceptional piano and accordion player, and songwriter of some notable talents recognized by music critics, other musicians who he has worked with and written songs for, radio programmers and the record buying public.
Hornsby released his first solo album, Harbor Lights, in 1993 which had a jazz-oriented sound and featured an all-star lineup that included jazz greats Pat Metheny, Branford Marsalis, and rockers Jerry Garcia, Phil Collins and Bonnie Raitt. Hornsby won his third Grammy in 1993 for Best Pop Instrumental for "Barcelona Mona" which was composed with Branford Marsalis for the Barcelona Olympics.
Great song title "Barcelona Mona", right up there with Wolf Alice’s “Moaning Lisa’s Smile”.
Hornsby also does quite a bit of session work having recorded with the likes of Bob Dylan, Robbie Robertson, Crosby Stills and Nash, Stevie Nicks and Squeeze and he has been a member of the Grateful Dead on a number of their tours.
Huey Lewis, considered to be a close friend by Hornsby produced some of the tracks on Hornsby’s breakout album The Way It Is which includes today’s song “Every Little Kiss”. Lewis and his band the News also had a number one hit with the Hornsby written song “Jacob’s Ladder” as did Don Henley with the Hornsby co-written “The End of Innocence ''.
Stay safe and well…and was always amused by the fact that mononucleosis was frequently described as the ‘kissing disease’. It seemed that a ‘kissing disease’ should describe an affliction that drove people to continuously kiss…which I guess could lead to mono.
