Friday April 17, 2020 “The Boys Are Back” Thin Lizzy
It’s another frivolous Friday, just a reminder in case you haven’t looked at your calendar yet, it’s so hard to keep track of the days of the week, so let’s listen to some foolish but happy rock.
I kept trying to find some relevance this tune has to our current condition but couldn’t, so I am going with the simple idea that this is an energetic, upbeat song, with a great twin guitar hook, irresponsible lyrics and it’s just darn good fun. And it was Thin Lizzy’s only top 40 hit as well as a song so unpopular with the band that they didn’t even want to include on their album.
Anyone in the audience here have a little Irish in them…a little humor from lead singer Phil Lynott for those that might be familiar with the Thin Lizzy Live album/CD which BTW features Huey Lewis (yes that Huey Lewis before he brought us The News) on harmonica. I skipped chords on this as it is not for the feint of heart or us mediocre players.
So spread the word around, the boys are back in town, and if the boys wanna fight you better let them.
The entire list of songs of the day is on Spotify should you want to go back and listen to any previous tunes: Covid-Song of the Day
Be safe and well…absolutely no fighting though.
