Sunday October 18, 2020 “Alone in My Home” Jack White

Every time I hear this likeable, pop, Jack White tune it reminds me of another song but I just can't seem to figure out what it is.

Jack White (John Anthony Gillis) the youngest of ten siblings was about to enter the seminary to study to be a priest when he was told he couldn’t bring his amplifier. So he turned to a different vocation.

He began his musical voyage playing drums at an early age but soon gravitated to the blues of Son House and Blind Willie McTell which led him to the guitar.  While running his own successful upholstery business and playing in a number of local Detroit bands he met and married Meg White and took her surname.

The White Stripes were thus formed.

Jack White has been in many other projects in addition to and after the White Stripes including the Raconteurs, the Dead Weather, Alicia Keys (theme song of James Bond film Quantum of Solace, the only bond theme that features a duet) and he produced Loretta Lynn’s most recent album/CD the critically acclaimed Van Lear Rose.

Jack White also owns independent record label Third Man Records with locations in both Detroit and Nashville.  Third Man also owns and operates a vinyl record pressing plant and record store.

Stay safe and well...and I guess it's easy to relate to being alone in our homes.

This light that shines on me tonight

Turns on when you wander through my door

And your friends won't see you to the end, I'm sure

But you love them anyhow

Lost feelings of love

Lost feelings of love

That hover above me

Lost feelings of love

Lost feelings of love

That hover above me

The ghost that visit me the most, drop by

Cause they know they can find me here

And they claim to be held from me in chains, but come on

They're guilty as sin my dear

I'm becoming a ghost

Becoming a ghost

So nobody can know me

I'm becoming a ghost

Becoming a ghost

So nobody can know me

These stones that are thrown against my bones, break through

But they hurt less as times goes on

And though alone, I build my own home, to be sure

That nobody can touch me now

Yeah

All alone in my home

Alone in my home

Nobody can touch me

All alone in my home

Alone in my home

Nobody can touch me
