Tuesday December 28, 2021 “In Demand” Texas

Best of 2021 continues with the Welch band Texas, perhaps badly named because it led us to believe that they were a country outfit, which they’re not.  Unfamiliar with the band, I ran across them on the CBS Saturday Morning show that each week features a usually less than stellar musical artist but Texas was different.  Their strong performance on the show drove me to research them on the www where I found that Texas had been recording for over twenty five years and had sold more than fifty million records worldwide…but very few of those records were sold or even played in the US.

Fronted with some memorable vocals by singer/songwriter Sharleen Spiteri, Texas delivered remarkable radio friendly pop tunes that further confused me as to why they weren’t more established here in the US.  And they were playing to sold out stadiums in Europe.  Why they haven't gained traction in the US remains a mystery to me.

Here’s “In Demand” from Texas, an interesting song and a wonderful video featuring a cool Bentley convertible, Texas lead singer/songwriter Sharleen Spiteri and the late, great actor Alan Rickman with a surprise ending that I encourage you to wait for.

Stay safe and well…and let me know if you think we should all travel to Europe to see this band live and figure out what the US audiences are not hearing.

When we were together I was blown away
Just like paper from a fan
But you would act like I was just a kid
Like we were never gonna lastNow I've got someone who cares for me
He wrote my name in silver sands
I think you know you've lost the love of your life
(And you said) I was the best you've ever had

Because I'm in demand
You're thinking of the way you shoulda held my hand
And all the times you said you didn't understand
You never had our love written in your plans
But now I'm in demandDon't ever think you saw the best in me
There's a side you'll never know
Cause love and loving are too different things
Set your sites far too low

Now I've got someone who cares for me
He wrote my name in silver sands
I think you know you've lost the love of your life
(And you said) I was the best you've ever had

Because I'm in demand
You're thinking of the way you shoulda held my hand
And all the times you said you didn't understand
You never had our love written in your plans
But now I'm in demand

You're thinking of the way you shoulda held my hand
And all the times you said you didn't understand
You never had our love written in your plans
But now I'm in demand

It's only when I fall asleep
I see that winning smile
When my dreams just move along
You've lost the race by miles

Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah
Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah
Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah
(Never had our love written in your plans)
Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah

Because I'm in demand
You're thinking of the way you shoulda held my hand
And all the times you said you didn't understand
You never had our love written in your plans
But now I'm in demand

You know I'm in demand
You see I'm in demand
You know I'm in demand
You know I'm in demand
You never had our love written in your plans

You know I'm in demand
You see I'm in demand
You need me in demand
You want me in demand
