Wednesday December 15, 20212 “Forever Young” Bob Dylan
Come on, is this Groundhog Day? Every time we turn around it’s another ‘forever young’ this time it’s Bob Dylan’s version.
In 1974, Dylan got back together with his original backing group The Band, and recordedPlanet Waves, which included this uplifting message from a parent to a child. Dylan performed this with The Band on Thanksgiving, 1976 at The Band's "Last Waltz" concert, which was made into a film by Martin Scorcese and released in 1978 along with a very popular soundtrack album.
Chrissie Hynde of The Pretenders, one of the many artists who have covered Dylan’s “Forever Young'' said, "It's got such a beautiful lyric. I just love it. He's the pride of our generation. The song is genius."
We know so much about Bob Dylan but here’s something you can impress your friends who think they know everything about this artist: stunning lingerie models may not be the first people you’d think of when it comes to possible Dylan collaborators, well maybe they are on some level, but in 2004. Dylan appeared in a 30-second Victoria’s Secret ad titled “Angels in Venice.”
That may seem odd for Dylan, but it’s a circumstance he had predicted years before. In 1965, a reporter asked Dylan, “If you were going to sell out to a commercial interest, which one would you choose?” His answer, “Ladies’ garments.”
Stay safe and well...and do you think Rod Stewart should have given Dylan a writing credit on his version?
