Monday December 13, 2021 “Forever Young” Alphaville
In 1535 Ponce De Leon went off in search of the fountain of youth to supposedly correct his sexual impotence and he must have been successful since he fathered seven children after that adventure. So this week we will see if we can find the fountain of youth more to be able to stay forever young and we will use the best possible search tool…music.
We will start the week with Alphaville a German synth pop group from Berlin who took their name from the 1965 Jean-Luc Goddard movie Alphaville. They were going to call themselves Forever Young but decided that would make a better song than a band name and so we have today’s rather conflicted song.
Alphaville, the band, also had a European hit with a song that is somewhat of a cliché for bands that may not find a big audience in their native country but are “Big in Japan”.
This is classic 80s and in case you have forgotten the 80s, today’s video will bring back the fashions, the hair styles and the visuals that have little to do with the lyrics.
Stay safe and well…and as Alphaville asks, do we really want to live forever?
