Tuesday December 7, 2021 “I Gotta Feeling” Black Eyed Peas (#8)

The current number eight Billboard Greatest Song of all Time is from the Black Eyed Peas album The E.N.D. “I Gotta Feeling” debuted on the charts at number two behind the number one song “Boom Boom Pow” from the same album making them one of only two artists who occupied the top two chart position at the same time...the other being the early Beatles.

 When “I Gotta Feeling” replaced “Boom Boom Pow” as the number one song it stayed at the top for over eight consecutive weeks and broke the record for most consecutive weeks at number one, previously held by the Glenn Miller Band...remember this Billboard chart stuff has been around since 1894.

It was announced by Nielsen SoundScan on May 3, 2010 that this celebratory song had reached over five million downloads. This meant at that moment it was the best-selling digital song of all time and was the Black Eyed Peas' most successful single of their career, topping over 25 charts internationally including the ones in Australia, Canada, Ireland, Italy, New Zealand, UK and US.

Here’s an interesting fact about the song, it topped a poll published in April 2012 from music service Spotify of the most-played songs at weddings in the UK. The Kings of Leon's hit "Sex on Fire" was runner up, and The Killers' "Mr. Brightside" came in third place...those Brits make some fascinating choices.
