Thursday January 21, 2021 “Use Somebody” Kings of Leon
So when you think of rock & roll groups composed of brothers you likely go right to the Beach Boys, the Jacksons, the Everly Brothers and the Bee Gees. The Followill brothers are not at all like any of those,
Well three of them are actually brothers with one cousin and they have formed a band like their brotherly predecessors but that’s where the similarity to the aforementioned brother’s bands ends. These guys rock. The band, named by their grandfather Leon who referred to the boys growing up as the ‘kings of leon’.
Their father was a Pentecostal minister and they traveled with him and their mother through the middle of the country as he preached in tents and churches. Their musical experiences came from the rather religiously antithetical music that their father played in the car as they traveled, the Rolling Stones, Bad Company and AC/DC.
The Kings of Leon have recently released their eighth album/CD and have a score of international hits prior to that. As for today’s song of the day, since there is some ambiguity to the lyric, Caleb Fallowill, the songwriter and lead singer has explained that it was inspired by the loneliness of being on the road and how much he missed home.
Funny comment below the video: "You know they're gonna be good when Jesus is the drummer." Check him out.
Stay safe and well...and yes we could all use somebody.
