Wednesday September 15, 2021 “Making a Fire” Foo Fighters
You might call today a triple play, which I will explain in a bit.
“Making a Fire” co-written by lead singer and primary Foo Fighter, Dave Grohl is the opening track to the Foo Fighters most recent album Medecine at Midnight. In an interview Grohl said, “The groove in that song, it's almost like a DJ sort of breakbeat. We had touched on something we hadn't necessarily done before."
Grohl has even suggested that the entire album has a Sly & the Family Stone feel to it, done in the Foo Fighters style.
As for the triple play, during Covid, 11 year old Nandi Bushell challenged ex-Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl (Nandi’s drumming idol) to a drum-off, which Grohl accepted. Does that little girl look like she is having fun in this video!! Grohl said “she kicked my f&cking ass”.
So what else could Dave do but invite her onstage to play with Grohl’s current band the Foo Fighters and close their show at The Forum with the signature “Everlong”, which by drumming standards is not an easy piece. And Nandi killed it. Check it out here to see Nandi play with the Foo Fighters.
Stay safe and well...and doesn’t Dave Grohl seem like he is probably the world’s nicest rock star?
