Wednesday September 1, 2021 “All Summer Long” Kid Rock

Born Robert James Ritchie to an affluent family outside of Detroit Michigan Kid Rock cultivated an image of a gangster rapper and it apparently worked because he has been quite successful as he has sold more than twenty million albums/CDs.

This song has borrowed from not one but two previous songs, the instrumental backing for this coming of age tale is a mash-up of Warren Zevon's "Werewolves Of London" and Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Sweet Home Alabama."

Certain that you are interested in Kid Rock’s political leanings so, in an interview he has said, “I am definitely a Republican on fiscal issues and the military, but I lean to the middle on social issues. I am no fan of abortion, but it's not up to a man to tell a woman what to do. As an ordained minister I don't look forward to marrying gay people, but I'm not opposed to it."

The Kid was married briefly to Pamela Anderson after winning her heart by serenading her with a David Allen Coe song, a song you will never hear on the radio and the title of which is absolutely not even printable, even in bad company.  The union only lasted a year.  Perhaps since he is an ordained minister, really who isn’t, he performed the marriage ceremony himself.

Stay safe and well...and if you’re a fan of the Kid, he has his own beer, BADASS beer, maybe give it a try.

It was 1989, my thoughts were short my hair was long

Caught somewhere between a boy and man

She was seventeen and she was far from in-between

It was summertime in Northern Michigan

Ahh Ahh Ahh

Ahh Ahh Ahh

Splashing through the sand bar

Talking by the campfire

It's the simple things in life, like when and where

We didn't have no internet

But man I never will forget

The way the moonlight shined upon her hair

And we were trying different things

We were smoking funny things

Making love out by the lake to our favorite song

Sipping whiskey out the bottle, not thinking 'bout tomorrow

Singing Sweet home Alabama all summer long

Singing Sweet home Alabama all summer long

Catching Walleye from the dock

Watching the waves roll off the rocks

She'll forever hold a spot inside my soul

We'd blister in the sun

We couldn't wait for night to come

To hit that sand and play some rock and roll

While we were trying different things

And we were smoking funny things

Making love out by the lake to our favorite song

Sipping whiskey out the bottle, not thinking 'bout tomorrow

Singing Sweet Home Alabama all summer long

Singing Sweet Home Alabama all summer long

Now nothing seems as strange as when the leaves began to change

Or how we thought those days would never end

Sometimes I'll hear that song and I'll start to sing along

And think man I'd love to see that girl again

And we were trying different things

We were smoking funny things

Making love out by the lake to our favorite song

Sipping whiskey out the bottle, not thinking 'bout tomorrow

Singing Sweet home Alabama all summer long

Singing Sweet home Alabama all summer long

And we were trying different things

We were smoking funny things

Making love out by the lake to our favorite song

Sipping whiskey out the bottle, not thinking 'bout tomorrow

Singing Sweet home Alabama all summer long

Singing Sweet home Alabama all summer long

Singing Sweet Home Alabama all summer long

Singing Sweet Home Alabama all summer long

Singing Sweet Home Alabama all summer long

Singing Sweet Home Alabama all summer long
