What the heck, let’s stay on theme with this additional piece of rock & roll erotica.

 The Divinyls were an Australian band comprised primarily of Chrissy Amphlett and Mark McEntee and they had a successful career in their native country going for themselves prior to today’s “I Touch Myself” which would be an international top ten song, even as it was banned on many radio stations based on its content.

 The song was written by Amphlett and McEntee along with the songwriting team of Tom Kelly and Billy Steinberg.  Kelly & Steinberg would also write “Like a Virgin” (Madonna), “True Colors “ (Cyndi Lauper), “I’ll Stand by You” (The Pretenders) and ”Eternal Flame” (The Bangles) among other hits.

 The “I Touch Myself” video was directed by Michael Bay who would go on to direct big budget movies like Armegeddon, Pearl Harbor and the Transformer series, in addition to several other blockbusters..
