Tuesday July 20, 2021 “All You Need Is Love” Elvis Costello
So we’re still at Live Aid and watching Elvis Costello when he was thinner, younger and cooler paying tribute to the Beatles with an acoustic version of “All You Need Is Love”. And although Live Aid was put together based on love, the reality is that in addition to love, you also need money and the concert generated a tremendous amount of both love and money.
Obviously since it was 1985 (Lennon was killed in 1980) the Beatles weren’t there to offer their own version of this iconic classic so Costello did his best to summon the spirit of the 60s and he got the audience to join in. McCartney was a small part of the concert and maybe we will get to him later in the week.
Sing along if the spirit moves you.
Stay safe and well..and all you really do need is love...forget the money.
