Thursday July 23, 2020 “What About Love “ Heart (1980s)
Ann Wilson of Heart is one of the true vocal treasures of rock & roll.
Heart, known primarily for the guitar presence of Nancy Wilson and the soaring vocals of her sister Ann have had a multi-decade career, have sold over 35 million records worldwide, had 20 top forty singles and seven top-10 albums, earned four Grammy nominations and are members of the Rock &Roll Hall of Fame (inducted by Chris Cornell). Lead singer Ann has been named as one of the “Top Heavy Metal Vocalists of All Time”.
They were one of the first bands out of the Seattle rock scene to achieve recognition and fame even as they left the U.S. for Vancouver so one of the band members could avoid being drafted into the military.
Nancy Wilson has made appearances in “Fast Times at Ridgemont High” and “The Wild Life” both written by her future husband Cameron Crowe. Both sisters are multi-instrumentalists and between them they cover guitar, mandolin and flute.
Also on the studio version of “What About Love” background vocals were provided by Grace Slick and Mickey Thomas both from the band Jefferson Starship.
Stay safe and well...and yeah, what about love?
