Thursday July 9, 2020 “(Thursday) Why I Didn’t Go toWork Today” Nilsson
Oh yes we are doing the days of the week, and here we have the mellow and fun Harry Nilsson treatise on that forgotten day, Thursday.
Nilsson was able to abandon his day job at a bank thanks to a royalty check he received from writing “Cuddly Toy”, recorded by the Monkees and he became somewhat of a sensation when the Beatles, when asked who their favorite recording artist was, replied that it was Harry NIlsson. Although they had never met, Lennon & McCartney were both familiar with and impressed by Nilsson’s album/cd ‘Pandamonium Shadow Show’.
Nilsson might have gone on to greater fame and success but he refused to tour to back his records and his music was so eclectic and varied that his style never fit easily into any existing category.
