Wednesday May 27, 2020 “Rocket Man” Elton John

Mars aint the kind of place to raise your kids.

This afternoon, weather permitting, Elon Musk’s SpaceX team is planning to launch two American astronauts in very hip designer space suits on a voyage to the International Space Station so it just seemed appropriate that the song of the day today be something galactically related so we have Elton John’s “Rocket Man”.

This song’s lyrics written by Bernie Taupin were inspired by the Ray Bradbury short story “The Rocket Man” and the music of course was written and arranged by Elton Hercules John (his full legal name) and was an international top ten song. One of thirty two Elton John top ten songs it appears in frequent movies and commercials and the title also inspired his nickname Rocket Man, was the title of the biopic about Elton as well as the US president’s denigrating reference to Kim Jung Un.

Sir Elton is a lifelong Watford Hornets soccer fan and was twice the owner of this Premiere League team as well as its president and chairman. He has won five Grammys, has two Oscars, two Golden Globes, a Tony and has an estimated personal net worth of $450 million.

He is an undeniable musical genius, remarkable performer, philanthropist and true humanitarian.

Stay safe and well...maybe Mars is the kind of place to raise your kids, no viruses?

She packed my bags last night pre-flight
Zero hour nine AM
And I'm gonna be high as a kite by then
I miss the earth so much I miss my wife
It's lonely out in space
On such a timeless flight

And I think it's gonna be a long long time
'Till touch down brings me round again to find
I'm not the man they think I am at home
Oh no no no I'm a rocket man
Rocket man burning out his fuse up here alone

And I think it's gonna be a long long time
'Till touch down brings me round again to find
I'm not the man they think I am at home
Oh no no no I'm a rocket man
Rocket man burning out his fuse up here alone

Mars ain't the kind of place to raise your kids
In fact it's cold as hell
And there's no one there to raise them if you did
And all this science I don't understand
It's just my job five days a week
A rocket man, a rocket man

And I think it's gonna be a long long time
'Till touch down brings me round again to find
I'm not the man they think I am at home
Oh no no no I'm a rocket man
Rocket man burning out his fuse up here alone

And I think it's gonna be a long long time
'Till touch down brings me round again to find
I'm not the man they think I am at home
Oh no no no I'm a rocket man
Rocket man burning out his fuse up here alone

And I think it's gonna be a long long time
And I think it's gonna be a long long time
And I think it's gonna be a long long time
And I think it's gonna be a long long time
And I think it's gonna be a long long time
And I think it's gonna be a long long time
And I think it's gonna be a long long time
And I think it's gonna be a long long time
