Monday June 15, 2020 “Stacy’s Mom” Fountains of Wayne
If you are a teenage boy, were a teenage boy, know a teenage boy, or someone who will be a teenage boy this is either a cautionary tale or a fabled fantasy.
I was very fortunate growing up in that my family had a summer home in NJ and when we would drive from our Queens, NY apartment to the summer house we would pass by a large highway store called the Fountains of Wayne that sold, well fountains, in Wayne, NJ.
The band, Fountains of Wayne, was formed by Adam Schlesinger and Chris Collingwood and they shared co-writing credits on all of their tunes. Schlesinger would also write and produce songs for the ‘cartoon group’, Josie and the Pussycats, the Verve Pipe and They Might Be Giants as well as write and produce the title track for the Tom Hanks movie “That Thing You Do” for the fictional band the Oneders (pronounced ‘wonders’ not ‘o needers’).
Adam Schlesinger unfortunately died of complications from COVID-19 on April 1, 2020.
Be careful here on your selection of video links. The first one is parental/kid approved while the second one is for all the teenage boys. BTW in the ‘teenage boys’ version Stacy’s mom is portrayed by Rachel Hunter, once married to Rod Stewart...again emphasizing the power of music.
Stay safe and well...and Stacy’s mom...well you know.
