Saturday June 6, 2020 Song of the Day “Peace in Our Time” Eddie Money
Eddie Money has always been a guilty pleasure for me, too pop to admit liking but he always delivered a really enjoyable musical experience.
Born Eddie Mahoney in Brooklyn NY, growing up in Levitown, LI, his career started as a NYC policeman, kind of appropriate for these times you might say, but he quickly left that for his goal to be a singer/musician.
He moved to the west coast and struggled in local clubs there for a while as Eddie Money, poking fun at the the fact that he was always broke, until he caught the attention of Bill Graham who created and managed the legendary rock venue the Fillmore Auditorium in San Francisco and then the Fillmore East, in NYC, who guided his career.
If I listed all of his hits you might agree with the ‘guilty pleasure’ aspect of his songs and would be nodding in agreement to each one of them.
This song, co-written by Peter Sinfield one of the early co-founders of the progressive rock group King Crimson, may not be as familiar to everyone but it seemed correct for this particular moment.
Stay safe and well...and let’s all 'put a song of peace in our hearts'.
