Saturday June 6, 2020 Song of the Day “Peace in Our Time” Eddie Money

Eddie Money has always been a guilty pleasure for me, too pop to admit liking but he always delivered a really enjoyable musical experience.

Born Eddie Mahoney in Brooklyn NY, growing up in Levitown, LI, his career started as a NYC policeman, kind of appropriate for these times you might say, but he quickly left that for his goal to be a singer/musician.

He moved to the west coast and struggled in local clubs there for a while as Eddie Money, poking fun at the the fact that he was always broke, until he caught the attention of Bill Graham who created and managed the legendary rock venue the Fillmore Auditorium in San Francisco and then the Fillmore East, in NYC, who guided his career.

If I listed all of his hits you might agree with the ‘guilty pleasure’ aspect of his songs and would be nodding in agreement to each one of them.

This song, co-written by Peter Sinfield one of the early co-founders of the progressive rock group King Crimson, may not be as familiar to everyone but it seemed correct for this particular moment.

Stay safe and well...and let’s all 'put a song of peace in our hearts'.

Oh Darling....

How strong is love supposed to be

Surrounded by fire and magic

we long to be free

Cheated, heated up down on the streets of shame

to be strong enough, to fly with our love

like a phoenix from the flame.

We gotta have faith (faith)

To work it out

Faith and hope (hope)

Without a doubt

Give us strength (strength)

to make a start

Put a song in our hearts...

Yeah We're gonna break the down walls

And build a prison with the stone

'Cause you and I know what love is worth

We're gonna build a heaven on earth

Honey then the wheels of fortune

Turning water into wine

We're gonna make love the bottom line

We're gonna find a peace in our time...

whoaa, peace in our time

Sweet Sweet Darling..

When there is lightning in the sky

come out of the storm and

into the warmth of

the healing I'll supply

gotta have faith...(faith)

And get it fast

Faith and hope...(hope)

if we let it last

Give us strength...(strength)

To reach the stars, put a song in our hearts.

Yeah We're gonna break down the walls

And build a prison with the stone

'Cause you and I know what love is worth

We're gonna build a heaven on earth

Honey then the wheels of fortune

Turning water into wine

We're gonna make love the bottom line

We're gonna find peace in our time...

whoaaa

And the sign..(sign)

of the dove..(dove)

gonna shine, shine, shine, shine

on a wing....(sing)

and a prayer (yeah)

we'll get by, by, by, by

keep on keeping on

as long as our dreams are true

our cities are dust

it's heaven or bust

In the shape of me and you

You gotta have faith...(faith)

to goad us along

now there is hope...(hope)

to carry us on

give us strength...(strength)

you'll never go wrong with this song ong ong...

Yeah We're gonna break down the walls

And build a prison with the stone

'Cause you and I know what love is worth

We're gonna build a heaven on earth

Honey then the wheels of fortune

Turning water into wine

We're gonna make love the bottom line

We're gonna find a peace in our time...

Yeah We're gonna break down the walls

And build a prison the stone

'Cause you and I know what love is worth

We're gonna build a heaven on earth

Honey then the wheels of fortune

Turning water into wine

We're gonna make love the bottom line

We're gonna find a peace in our time
