Thursday June 4, 2020 “Private Lives” Low Cut Connie

Probably you don’t know this group but let’s start off with how could you not love a band called ‘Low Cut Connie’ and all that conjures up and then let’s get to some slightly scandalous lyrics and a pop tune that should be looking for a vaccine because it is so infectious.  Sorry, corona times drove me to that but it is a really catchy piece of work.

And just who is Low Cut Connie?  She is ‘a middle-aged diner waitress from Southern New Jersey’ according to Andrew Weiner who is responsible for the band’s songwriting, singing and many of the instruments and don’t feel like you should keep it a secret that you like this ‘band’  because Low Cut Connie's fans include Elton John, Bruce Springsteen, Nick Hornsby, Howard Stern and Barack Obama (yeah, really on all of those).

Maybe the kids shouldn’t watch the video, heck maybe sensible people shouldn’t watch it either but definitely give it a listen so you can tell all your friends that of course you know who Low Cut Connie is and they should too.  And if you are wondering where Andrew Weiner's inspiration comes from just go to their previous albums/CDs titles: “Get Out the Lotion”, “Call Me Sylvia”, “Hi Honey” and “Dirty Pictures 1 and 2” (separate works) which pretty much sums it all up.

Stay safe and well...and sometimes you just gotta get undignified even if just in your private life.

Life is strange and you do what ya gotta do just to survive

You got your hustle and you gotta know that baby, I got mine

Would it make you cry if you knew about the things

That you couldn’t let slide? Are you scandalized?

'Cause you know that I’m edging it on the sly

[Verse 2]

TT’s a nanny but she moves a little weed on the side

Jimmy paints houses, who the hell knows what goes on

When they dry, on Friday nights, we get together

And we talk about this crazy life, are you scandalized?

'Cause you know that once in a while we get undignified

[Pre-Chorus]

In our private lives

In our private lives

[Chorus]

That’s the way we live

Don’t dwell on it

At the end of the day

We got love to give

That's the way we live

Don't dwell on this

[Verse 3]

It sounds cheesy, but these people, they’re the reason I’m alive

The town freaks and the sleazies bring a tear to my eye

I’m like a child, skinnydipping with the squares

On the other side, we’re all scandalized

In the city, we’ve been working for a different prize

[Pre-Chorus]

In our private lives

In our private lives

[Chorus]

That’s the way we live

Don’t dwell on it

At the end of the day

We got love to give

That's the way we live

Don't dwell on this

[Chorus]

That’s the way we live

Don’t dwell on it

At the end of the day

We got love to give

That's the way we live

Don't dwell on this

[Outro]

Private lives

Private lives

Private lives

Private lives

Private lives

Private lives

Private lives

Private lives

One, two, three, four!
