Thursday May 7, 2020 “Watching the Wheels” John Lennon

Haven’t we all felt the sentiments that John expresses in this song but could never actively express them because, unlike him, we don’t have his past career as one of the most talented, famous and successful people on the planet. It’s so much easier for him to tell all the advice-givers to piss-off than it might be for us.

The song suggests that taking it easy and spending time with loved ones is anything but crazy, and haven’t we all had that opportunity thrust upon us right now. Spending time in hibernation but gaining an appreciation for how nice it will be when the barriers of social distancing are lifted.

The album/CD that contained this tune, “Double Fantasy” would be John Lennon's final complete album which was recorded and released just prior to his tragic death, but it is such a sweet celebration of a life resolved and shows a contentment and peace that we should all try to strive for and embrace.

Stay safe and well…’there are no problems, only solutions’.

People say I'm crazy
Doing what I'm doing
Well, they give me all kinds of warnings
To save me from ruin
When I say that I'm okay, well they look at me kinda strange
"Surely, you're not happy now, you no longer play the game"

People say I'm lazy
Dreaming my life away
Well they give me all kinds of advice
Designed to enlighten me
When I tell them that I'm doing fine watching shadows on the wall
"Don't you miss the big time boy, you're no longer on the ball?"

I'm just sitting here watching the wheels go round and round
I really love to watch them roll
No longer riding on the merry-go-round
I just had to let it go

Ah, people ask me questions
Lost in confusion
Well, I tell them there's no problem
Only solutions
Well, they shake their heads and they look at me, as if I've lost my mind
I tell them there's no hurry, I'm just sitting here doing time

I'm just sitting here watching the wheels go round and round
I really love to watch them roll
No longer riding on the merry-go-round

I just had to let it go
I just had to let it go
I just had to let it go
