Monday March 1, 2021 “Never Been Any Reason” Head East
Many times a band will burst onto the scene with a really cool song, then disappear almost as quickly while their tune slowly fades from our memory.
Head East falls into that category for me.
And then I heard them on the radio recently...you know we still need the radio to introduce us to new artists and pull bands like Head East back into our listening range. Otherwise we may find ourselves spinning the same sounding tunes forever thanks to the www algorithms.
So who is Head East, they are a rock band originally from Central Illinois that was formed by vocalist John Schlitt, guitarist Danny Piper, keyboardist Roger Boyd, bassist Larry Boyd, and drummer Steve Huston who met while they were ‘studying’ at the University of Illinois. "Never Been Any Reason" was their solo shot at fame, and a neat tune IMHO.
A piece of irony in the band’s history, John Schlitt, lead singer and founding member, was fired because of his substance abuse and after a stint in rehab turned up fronting probably the most popular Christian rock band ever, Petra, who have had a much more successful career than Head East.
Stay safe and well...and is it me or do you find that you can define a decade by the style of the music from that period.
