Monday July 18, 2022 “One Thing Leads to Another” The Fixx
This week we will be doing rock & roll by the numbers so in a world of logic we will begin at the beginning with the number ‘one…thing leads to another’. Someone count me in please…
The Fixx is a London-based new wave group that managed to have a successful career in America and the UK for several years in the mid-'80s, with their catchy, keyboard-driven pop along with the help of MtV. The band was formed by college friends vocalist/keyboardist Cy Curnin and drummer Adam Woods.
The Fixx released their debut album, the Rupert Hine produced Shuttered Room, in 1982. The record spawned two minor UK hits, "Stand or Fall" and "Red Skies," and spent a short time in the charts. In America, none of the singles were big hits even with strong radio airplay which kept the album on the US charts for nearly a year.
Producer Rupert Hine is not a household name, unless artists like Tina Turner, Howard Jones and Bob Geldof are residents. Those are just three of the many stars in addition to The Fixx that Hine has produced over the years.
Fixx band members Cy Curnin and Jamie West-Oram appeared in the Tina Turner music video "Better Be Good to Me" and they both contributed musically to her Private Dancer album.
Stay safe and well…and without seeming obvious, I believe The Fixx have hit on a deep philosophical truth…one thing certainly leads to another.
