Saturday May 21, 2022 “In My Life” The Beatles

So we have gone through this week's top ten of my favorite songs (six actually until we extend weeks into ten days), and maybe there were a couple of surprises, but today’s choice is probably expected.  I couldn’t possibly have a list of favorite songs which did not include at least one Beatles tune and if I am going to limit myself to only one, well, it’s got to be this one.

This John Lennon composed song, “In My Life” was voted the best song of all time by a panel of songwriters in a 2000 Mojo magazine poll. The panelists included Paul McCartney, Brian Wilson, Lamont Dozier (Motown’s legendary Holland-Dozier-Holland writing team), Carole King and many others.

Stay safe and well…and as much fun as it is putting together favorite songs, it’s impossible to put together a short list of them as it is way too limiting and is an often changing list and we all need so many more than just six.  If the spirit moves you, send me your thoughts on favorite songs.

There are places I'll remember

All my life, though some have changed

Some forever, not for better

Some have gone and some remain

All these places had their moments

With lovers and friends, I still can recall

Some are dead, and some are living

In my life, I've loved them all

But of all these friends and lovers

There is no one compares with you

And these memories lose their meaning

When I think of love as something new

Though I know I'll never lose affection

For people and things that went before

I know I'll often stop and think about them

In my life, I love you more

Though I know I'll never lose affection

For people and things that went before

I know I'll often stop and think about them

In my life, I love you more
