Sunday March 28, 2021 “Magnet & Steel” Walter Egan

According to Walter Egan,  Stevie Nicks was the magnet in terms of his inspiration for this tune.

Lindsey Buckingham of Fleetwood Mac was producing Egan’s first album/CD Fundamental Roll  and he brought in a close friend, Stevie Nicks to do some background vocals and Walter felt an immediate attraction to her.  He said he wrote this song on his way home from the studio one evening with Ms. Nicks in mind.

No idea how that turned out.

And “Magnet & Steel” is Walter Egan’s only adventure into the top ten with a delightful if not memorable pop song that would work itself into several movies and TV shows.  Egan was also a four time champion on the TV game show Catchphrase (?), who knew.

Walter Egan also toured as a member of the band Spirit, which had a total of nearly twenty different musicians in the group over the years and they really only had the one charting hit “I Got aLine on You”. And Egan has recorded fourteen solo albums/CDs with the most recent being in 2018.

Stay safe and well...and if you are a magnet, I hope you have someone important to you who is steel.

(Ooooooh, oooh-ah)

Now I told you so you ought to know

(Oooooh) It takes some time for a feelin' to grow

(Oooooh) You're so close now I can't let you go

(Oooooh) And I can't let go

With you I'm not shy, to show the way I feel

With you I might try, my secrets to reveal

For you are a magnet and I am steel

I can hope that I'll hold you for long

(Oooooh) You're a woman who's lost to your song

(Oooooh) But the love that I feel is so strong

(Oooooh) And it can't be wrong

With you I'm not shy, to show the way I feel

With you I might try, my secrets to reveal

For you are a magnet and I am steel

(Oooooh)

(Oooooh)

(Oooooh)

With you I'm not shy, to show the way I feel

With you I might try, my secrets to reveal

For you are a magnet and I am steel

For you are a magnet and I am steel

For you are a magnet and I am steel
