Friday April 22, 2022 “Shut Up and Dance” Walk the Moon
According to band founder and lead singer Nicholas Petricca, this Cincinnati, OH group took their name from the Police song “Walking on the Moon”, and I for one feel better knowing that.
Walk the Moon scored their first hit with a song named for one of their favorite professors while they were students at Kenyon College, Anna Sun. That song was on their second album, the self-titled Walk the Moon. The band’s third album, Talking Is Hard, contained today’s song "Shut Up and Dance" which charted on no less than five continents, and reached the top five on U.S., U.K., Canadian, and Australian charts.
Walk the Moon has recorded five albums, has had ten additional hits, have been nominated for fourteen awards and are a fine pop outfit. Singer/songwriter (and dancer in this video) Nicholas Petricca has said that “Shut Up and Dance with Me” was inspired by an actual event in an LA club.
Not sure why someone would ask this question but when questioned about their favorite accent, the band didn't choose a country or region like everyone else might...they chose 'Christopher Walken'.
Stay safe and well…and I don’t often read the comments below videos but on this one there was an appropriate comment that suggested… “If this song doesn’t put a smile on your face, you’ve got no soul”. Compliments of Theodore Barkely and probably the 387 million other “Shut Up and Dance” video viewers.
