Sunday January 16, 2022 “Every Time I Think of You” The Babys
I love a good power pop ballad and am also a John Waite fan so “Everytime I Think of You” works for me on many levels...and who is John Waite? Well he’s the guy in the red suit fronting The Babys on this song with ample help from back-up singer Myrna Matthews.
John Waite also owns some of the more memorable power ballads of the MtV era with bands like The Babys and Bad English along with his solo efforts. For those 80s fans out there, in addition to today’s song Waite fronted “Isn’t It Time” with The Babys, “When I See You Smile” with Bad English and ”Missing You” as a solo.
80s power pop heaven, each one of them.
You might also recognize Jonathan Cain playing keyboards on “Everytime I Think of You”. Cain would go on to join Journey and write some of their most successful songs like “Faithfully”. He would also form the band Bad English with John Waite and Neal Schon, who was also from Journey and prior to that Schon was a member of Santana.
Stay safe and well...and do check John Waite’s other tunes; they are all worth a listen. Well, worth a listen if you like today's song.
